In April 2021, the US Department of State reported that the passport renewal process could take up to 12 weeks, up from 4-6 weeks previously. Make sure to update your passport in plenty of time before you travel. In most countries it is requested that the passport be valid for more than 6 months, taking as reference the date of return from the pilgrimage.
